Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of July 11, 2021, at 6:30pm EST.

For the fifth day in a row, health officials in the UK logged over 30,000 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 5.2 million. Of the cumulative total, 83.6% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 26, bringing the total number of fatalities to 128,425.

Today in Ontario 166 new infected and 6 new deaths


TORONTO – July 11, 2021: Canada stood today at 1,420,511 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 233 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – today reached 26,435 total deaths, 7 more than Saturday. In Canada today the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 1,388,761. Ontario today reached 547,149 overall positives, an increase of 166 new cases compared to Saturday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile remained to 9,251, with 6 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 536,306 or 278 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 144,700 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 1,440 of the South African variant, 4,818 of the Brazilian variant and 2,707 of the Indian variant. Ontario moving to step 3 of roadmap to reopen on July 16

TORONTO – Green light for early stage 3. The provincial government has decided to accelerate the easing of restrictions by moving the scheduled date from 21 July to next Friday. The executive then succumbed to pressure from many mayors who called for the reopening phase 3 to be brought forward, in light of all the epidemiological data recorded in Ontario and, at the same time, taking into account the significant progress made in recent weeks in the mass vaccination campaign. 75 Canadian Imams express solidarity with Indigenous peoples at Friday Prayer Congregation

TORONTO – Muslim religious leaders (Imams) across Canada read a special solidarity statement for Indigenous peoples during their respective weekly congregations at mosques on Friday, July 9th, 2021. This unified call to action, announced by the Canadian human rights organization Justice for All, is an expressed “support and solidarity with grieving Indigenous communities, former residential school students, and families of the lost children. About seventy-five Imams across the country have responded to a joint call by Justice For All Canada & the Canadian Council of Imams for a coordinated effort in extending condolences at this time of immeasurable trauma and grief for Indigenous peoples”.
