The Pope at Angelus from the hospital: “Healthcare free for all, like in Italy”

“A free health service that ensures a good service accessible to all”. Pope Francis’s appeal started from the tenth floor balcony of the Gemelli Hospital in Rome, where the Pontiff is still hospitalized after the surgery a week ago. Despite the surgical operation he underwent, Bergoglio did not want to give up the Sunday Angelus and therefore went to the balcony (in the photo, taken from the video of the Vatican News YouTube channel), accompanied by some sick people, including three children, to talk in front of a crowd of faithful gathered for the occasion in front of the hospital. “Un servizio sanitario gratuito che assicuri un buon servizio accessibile a tutti”. L’appello di Papa Francesco è partito dal balcone del decimo piano del Policlinio Gemelli a Roma, dove il Pontefice è ancora ricoverato dopo l’intervento di una settimana fa. Nonostante l’operazione chirurgica subìta, Bergoglio non ha voluto rinunciare all’Angelus domenicale e si è quindi affacciato al balcone (nella foto tratta dal video del canale YouTube di Vatican News), accompagnato da alcuni malati, fra i quali tre bambini, per parlare di fronte ad una folla di fedeli radunatasi per l’occasione davanti all’ospedale. On Friday, health officials in Bangladesh logged 11,324 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed one million. Of the cumulative total, 86.2% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 212, the highest number of fatalities reported in one day since the onset of the pandemic.

Ontario Moving to Step Three of Roadmap to Reopen on July 16

TORONTO — With key public health and health care indicators continuing to improve and the provincewide vaccination rate surpassing the targets outlined in the province’s Roadmap to Reopen, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health the Ontario government is moving the province into Step Three of the Roadmap to Reopen at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021.  Continue reading
