Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Political parties serve an important function. They function as a catch basin for people and ideas with occasionally convergent or overlapping views. They summarize the shared values into a ‘political plan’ and seek public support. It is not a bad democratic tool for individuals whose own individual appeal may be limited at best and surely insufficient to stir the hearts and minds of the electorate.
TORONTO – It was structured as a “Meet and Greet the Candidates” in the Community Hall of the Church of the Transfiguration.
ONTARIO – Typically, Autumn is synonymous with the harvest season and Fall fairs. The season brings about a sense of renewed optimism with the abundance of food gathered during the harvest. A chance to enjoy some of nature’s bounty.
TORONTO – These municipal elections are at best ho-hum and extremely local. From a leadership perspective, who are the individuals with a vision and a plan to rebuild our aging infrastructure, make our roads navigable, our communities safe(r)?
TORONTO – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and so-called “Freedom Convoy” protest organizer Tamara Lich are among those who will be called to testify later this week in an investigation that aims to shed light on the government’s invocation of the Emergencies Act.
