Globally, there have been over 122 million confirmed cases of Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 98 million people have recovered and more than 2.6 million fatalities were attributable to Covid-19.
On March 17, 2021, Bill C-7 was passed, granting Canadians without a reasonably foreseeable death the right to apply for medical assistance in dying (MAID). This is a modification to the original MAID legislation, for which a majority of Canadians showed support. Parliamentary and expert reviews will now be conducted to study additional questions, such as advance requests, cases relating to mental illness, the protection of persons with disabilities, the palliative care system, and access to MAID for minors.
