Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of July 13, 2021, at 5:15pm EST.

On Tuesday, health officials in Spain logged more than 43,000 new infections over the last four days, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 4 million. Of the cumulative total, 91.0% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 13, bringing total number of fatalities to 81,033.

Globally, over 187 million cases have confirmed positive for Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 172 million people have recovered. Fatalities attributable to Covid-19 now surpass 4.0 million worldwide.

Canada has not provided complete data for July 13, 2021.

Today in Ontario 146 new infected and 7 new deaths

TORONTO – July 13, 2021: Canada stood today at 1,421,354 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 459 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – today reached 26,447 total deaths, 9 more than Monday. In Canada today the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 1,389,884. Ontario today reached 547,409 overall positives, an increase of 146 new cases compared to Monday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile increased to 9,258, with 7 more deaths than the previous day. The number of recovered people in the province rose to 536,603 or 201 more than the previous 24 hours. There are 144,745 cases so far registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 1,448 of the South African variant, 4,859 of the Brazilian variant and 2,752 of the Indian variant.

Canada donates almost 18 million vaccines to the poorest countries

Canada is donating 17.7 million doses of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine to help immunize people in low- and middle-income countries. This was announced by the Minister for International Development Karina Gould and the Minister of Public Services and Procurement Anita Anand: the doses, they said, are part of the federal government’s advance purchase agreement with the company and will be distributed through COVAX.
