Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of July 19, 2021, at 4:45pm EST.

On Monday, health officials in Bangladesh logged 13,321 new infections, the second highest one-day tally since the start of the pandemic. Of the cumulative 1.1 million confirmed positive cases, 84.3% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 231, the greatest number of fatalities reported in a single day.

Today in Ontario 130 new infected and no new deaths

TORONTO – July 19, 2021: Canada stood today at 1,423,603 positives for Covid-19, an increase of 462 more cases than in the previous 24 hours. The number of victims – nationwide – today reached 26,500 total deaths, one more than Sunday. In Canada today the number of recovered people from the coronavirus stood at 1,392,521. Ontario today reached 548,347 overall positives, an increase of 130 new cases compared to Sunday. The total number of victims in Ontario has meanwhile remained stable to 9,294, with no more deaths than the previous day.

Universities and colleges towards the return to normality

TORONTO – There will be no capacity limits or physical distance requirements. Ontario’s post-secondary institutions were given the green light to reopen in September by Colleges and Universities Minister Jill Dunlop. The ministry has already explained the guidelines for the new school year to all post-secondary education institutions in the province. And it is precisely from the new protocol that it emerges that colleges and universities are allowed to “resume normal operations for the next academic year”.
