Status update of Covid-19 Cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of October 26, 2021, at 6:45 pm EST.

On Tuesday, health officials in Germany logged 20,955 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 4.5 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 93.6% are considered recovered. Authorities have reported 95,794 total fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

Health system to improve in Ontario, doctors indicate priorities

TORONTO – Reduce patient waiting times, expand mental health, addiction and home care services, and prepare for the next pandemic. These are some of the priorities to be addressed in the Ontario health system contained in a new report by the Ontario Medical Association (OMA). The study also highlighted the need to strengthen public health units in light of the important role played during the pandemic and to assign each patient a team of connected health workers.

Ontario Covid-19 vaccination certificate system fails to accommodate marginalized people

The Ontario government has lifted capacity limits and made life a little easier for some establishments like restaurants, gyms and event spaces. Unfortunately, the provincial government has failed to meet the needs of individual with disabilities and specifically those unable to be vaccinated for Covid-19.

Establishments that require proof of Covid-19 vaccination remain inaccessible to marginalized groups. Their plight appears to be ignored when it comes to officials responsible in making policy decisions.
