Federal Government hopeful to extend a “lifeline” to businesses

Black Friday sales aside, now Cyber Monday deals entice customers to spend as the holidays draw near. However, small businesses are still reeling from the impacts of Covid-19 and the ongoing labour shortages combined with supply chain disruptions present further challenges in trying to build back lost revenue over the past 19 months.

According to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), about 61% of small businesses have yet to meet their pre-pandemic revenues. Another 22% say they will not make it passed another six months at the current level of revenue loss. Time may be running out.

On Saturday, health officials in Germany logged 49,311 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 5.7 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 83.6% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 170 Covid-related deaths for a total of 101,340 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

On Friday, health officials in Russia logged 34,690 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 9.5 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 86.3% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 1,235 Covid-related deaths for a total of 270,292 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.
