Status update of Covid-19 cases worldwide

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of December 2, 2021, at 6:15 pm EST.

On Thursday, health officials in Germany logged 73,486 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 6 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 79.2% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 357 Covid-related deaths for a total of 102,909 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

Celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the Fulbright Program

Washington, D.C. – On Friday December 3, 2021 at 11 am, the Embassy of Italy in Washington D.C. and the United States Department of State will join to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Fulbright Program worldwide with a panel discussion titled “Fulbright Fellows’ Contribution to the Fight against Covid-19,” in the year that marks the 160th anniversary of Italy-US diplomatic relations. 

Ontario, over 900 new infections and 8 deaths

TORONTO – Over 900 new Covid-19 infections and another 8 deaths related to the virus, today, in Ontario. Provincial health officials recorded 959 cases, up from 780 on Wednesday and 748 a week ago. Earlier this week, 964 cases had been reported on Sunday, 788 on Monday and 687 on Tuesday. The rise of infections resumes, therefore, once again during the weekend.
