Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of December 9, 2021, at 4:30 pm EST.

On Thursday, health officials in Russia logged 30,209 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 9.9 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 87.0% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 1,181 Covid-related deaths for a total of 286,004 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

TORONTO – The COVID-19 race in Ontario schools seems to be unstoppable: with 227 new cases in the last twenty-four hours, the total number of infections since the beginning of the school year has risen to 9,111. Covid-19: Ontario touches on 1,300 cases in one day, more than 1,800 in Quebec

TORONTO – Covid-19: impressive surge in infections in Ontario, today: almost 1,300 new cases, with the highest daily count in the province in more than six months. The provincial health officials in fact recorded 1,290 infections, compared to 1,009 on Wednesday and 959 a week ago. Today’s total is therefore the highest recorded in Ontario since May 24, when 1,446 cases were registered. →

Daily update of Ontario’s Covid-19 vaccination campaign

With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 24.2 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. According to data last updated on December 9, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 75,093 vaccine doses on Wednesday, up from 74,325 doses the day prior.
