Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of December 18, 2021, at 5:15 pm EST.

On Saturday, health officials in the UK logged 90,418 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 11.2 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 86.4% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 125 Covid-related deaths for a total of 147,173 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

Daily update of Ontario’s Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign

With the largest vaccination campaign underway, the province has administered more than 25.1 million doses into the arms of Ontarians. According to data last updated on December 18, numbers released by the Ministry of Health show health officials administered 168,923 vaccine doses on Friday, up from 156,525 doses the day prior.
