On Sunday, health officials in Italy logged 53,588 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 14.8 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases 90.3% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, authorities have reported 118 Covid-related deaths for a total of 159,784 fatalities attributable to Covid-19.

TORONTO – The sixth wave of Covid-19 is there, and it shows. Today, Ontario recorded another 10 deaths, bringing the total in the province, since the beginning of the pandemic, to 12,470. On the other hand, the updated data on hospitalizations due – a provincial health official said – to a scheduled maintenance of the computer systems are not available. But Saturday’s figure is enough to make it clear that the Omicron BA.2 variant is making the numbers rise with impressive speed: 855 people admitted to hospitals in the province, compared to 807 last Thursday and, above all, to 553 of just one week ago (March 28). →
Dufferin-Caledon, provincial constituency, covers an area of about 2,300 square km, slightly less than that of Pisa, but with a population density about one third that of the Italian regional municipality. The district is located in central Ontario, north of Brampton and encompasses Dufferin County and the town of Caledon.
