Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

Monday, the Prime Minister told his caucus they are barking up the wrong tree – he is staying. Ditto to the Bloc Quebecois’s “threat” of voting non-confidence in the government. The NDP had already reneged on its blustering threat to back away from its promises of support to Justin Trudeau. The Conservatives’ position is clear: how much longer can the government resist?
TORONTO – A tax-free $200 rebate for all Ontario taxpayers: Prime Minister Doug Ford announced it today (see the video here), also anticipating that those with children will get more. “Because we know that children are more expensive, parents will receive an additional $200 for each child,” Ford said. That could mean a family of five with three children under the age of 18 could receive $1,000. →
