TORONTO – 551 Covid-inpatients in hospital, of which 181 (-1) in intensive care: it is the lowest number of hospitalizations in Ontario since the end of December. There were also few deaths today: 4, bringing the total from the beginning of the pandemic to 12,336. However, the positivity rate goes up, from 12% on Sunday to 13.4% today, based on the 1,217 cases of Covid-19 identified in the last 24 hours through 8,644 tests (limited, we remind you, to the “at risk” categories only ).

Of the cases confirmed today, 175 involve people who are not fully vaccinated, 295 involve those who have at least two doses of the vaccine, 632 involve people who have received two doses plus a booster injection, and 115 involve people with an unknown vaccination status. There are 16,405 active and known cases in Ontario, over a hundred fewer than on Sunday.

In Quebec, another 5 deaths were recorded today – now the total since the beginning of the pandemic is 14,265 – and the number of Covid inpatients has increased (+13 compared to the previous 24 hours): now there are 1,002 hospitalized in all, however less than Friday when it was 1,021. Cases in intensive care stood at 48, up 3 from Friday.

The French-speaking province has also registered 907 new coronavirus cases. out of a total of 10,238 tests (reserved for the “at risk” categories) carried out. Meanwhile, citizens’ self-declarations continue on the government portal where it is possible to enter the results of do-it-yourself tests carried out at home: today out of 517 swabs declared 433 were positive. Since the portal was activated, 113,973 tests have been entered, 89,457 of which were positive. However, the active and known cases are officially 12,964.

Slight increase in intensive care admissions in Manitoba, where 382 people – as of Friday – with Covid-19 are in the ordinary wards (-13 compared to Thursday) and 19 (+2) are in the ICU. Along with hospitalizations, the total number of deaths also increased on Friday, reaching 1,726 (+3). The number of active and known cases is 4,403.

In Alberta, 4 deaths were recorded on Friday, bringing the total since the beginning of the pandemic to 4,023. 966 hospitalized patients, 62 of them in intensive care. 502 new cases of Covid-19, out of a total of about 3,000 tests carried out. There are currently 6,583 active and known cases, but the number is likely to be much higher due to testing limitations to “at risk” categories only.
