Emergencies Act: Conservatives divided

TORONTO – Justin Trudeau’s decision to invoke the Emergency Act continues to cause controversy. And among the unpredictable effects of the prime minister’s decision-making turn, we also find yet another split in the Canadian right, which still continues to pay pledge to the rubble left by former leader Erin O’Toole. The emergency legislation, which is immediately applicable but must be confirmed by Parliament within seven days, guarantees greater power of intervention by the federal police and allows the current accounts of the protest financiers to be frozen.

Record $105 Million donation to Trillium Health Partners

TORONTO – It is the largest donation to help build the largest hospital in Canadian history. The Trillium Health Partners (THP) announced the $105 Million donation from the Peter Gilgan Foundation in a press release (February 15). The historic donation will help expand and redevelop facilities at two of THP’s three locations, the Mississauga Hospital and the Queensway Health Centre.

Covid-19: in Ontario hospitalizations return to rise, 56 dead in Quebec

TORONTO – The hospitalization curve bends upwards again: today in Ontario hospitals there were 1,550 people with Covid-19, up from 1,369 on Monday. On the other hand, admissions in intensive care decreased, albeit slightly: today 384, yesterday 394, Sunday 402. There are more deaths, compared to Monday (8): today, 19, which bring the total number of victims in Ontario, from the beginning of the pandemic, to 12,120.  Continue reading

LECCO – Sono più di 300 gli spettacoli che Ezio Frigerio ha realizzato nella sua lunga carriera e tuttora presenti nei cartelloni di teatri europei ed internazionali: da Milano a Parigi, da Londra a New York passando per Berlino, Barcellona, Madrid fino a Buenos Aires e Tokyo. Destino ha voluto che anche Frigerio si spegnesse lo scorso 2 febbraio, lo stesso giorno in cui al mondo veniva annunciata la scomparsa di Monica Vitti. Ed è forse per questo che la notizia relativa allo scenografo è passata in secondo piano, almeno per i non addetti ai lavori.
