Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of August 7, 2021, at 7:00pm EST.

On Saturday, health officials in Ontario logged 378 new infections, numbers not seen since mid-June. Of the cumulative 552 thousand confirmed positive cases, 97.9% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 9, brining the total number of fatalities in the province to 9,401. However, officials state that one of the nine deaths reported occurred more than two months ago.

Italy wins 4×100 and karate and breaks its Olympic medal record

 

TOKYO – 6 August 2021, another historic day for Italian sport. In the men’s 4×100, with 37 “50 the Azzurri win gold in front of Great Britain (37” 51) and Canada (37 “70). Patta, Jacobs, Desalu and Tortu win a fantastic Olympic gold medal and for the Italia Team, after the other victories today (including gold in karate with Luigi Busà), is the 38th medal, an absolute record at the Olympic Games, which improves the 36 podiums obtained from the Azzurri’s expeditions of Los Angeles 1932 and Rome 1960. «Faire les potiches ne nous intéresse pas» : l’équipe de France de beach handball refuse le bikini

(Femina Version / Kahina Boudjidj) Les joueuses de beach handball norvégiennes ont fait le tour de la toile. En effet, à travers leur refus de porter un bikini mais plutôt un shorty, lors d’un match qui les a opposées à l’équipe d’Espagne, elles ont montré que la fédération internationale de handball était sexiste. Pourquoi ? Parce que cette dernière a décidé de leur imposer une amende de 1500 euros pour tenue non conforme au règlement. TOKYO – 6 agosto 2021, un’altra giornata storica per lo sport italiano. Trionfa anche la 4×100 azzurra: con 37”50 gli azzurri conquistano l’oro davanti alla Gran Bretagna (37”51) ed al Canada (37”70). Patta, Jacobs, Desalu e Tortu (nella foto di Italia Team) conquistano una fantastica medaglia d’oro olimpica.
