An award for young people in memory of Sandro Pertini, the President most loved by Italians
ROME – In order to honour the memory of the most loved former President of the Republic Sandro Pertini (in the pic), UILS – Union of Socialist Entrepreneurs and Workers – and CE.S.P. – Centre Sandro Pertini – have instituted the “Sandro Pertini Award”, for young Italian and foreign talents. The award for the first two winners, in the category of young Italian and foreign talents, consists in a sum of 250euros each, while the second classifieds will be delivered a commemorative plaque. The most deserving ones will be inserted in the UILS Proposal newsroom, and all participants will be given a book on Sandro Pertini.
“The most deserving ones will be introduced in the UILS Proposal newsroom. Those rewarded – UILS and CE.S.P. explain – will be promising young people who, with their work, want to remember and continue to follow the political path as well as modernising the honourable figure of Sandro Pertini (Italian President from 1978 to 1985), who gave Italy lustre in the world and who, while feeling proud of being an Italian citizen, at the same time considered himself a citizen of the world”.
Thus, U.I.L.S. and CE.S.P. address young people in order to encourage their participation in politics, so as to ensure genuine and firm justice for the most deprived citizens, with due regard for human dignity. “This was the wish of which Pertini was an interpreter for looking at the new generations. And this will be the path that U.I.L.S and CE.S.P. will support and promote with the aim of giving space to new talents. The most brilliant and deserving papers/videos – that critically develop the importance of young people’s role in politics according to Sandro Pertini’s ideals – will be awarded”.
The award is addressed to all young people that will prepare a paper of about 5,000 characters, spaces excluded, or a video of about 3 minutes on the following theme: “The importance of young people in the politics of the future according to Sandro Pertini”. A passage will be welcome on the reason why Pertini is proving to be an actual political example to follow.
