Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

TORONTO – There’s a new, big “trouble” for Premier Doug Ford, and it’s called MZO, which stands for “Minister’s Zoning Orders”, a powerful tool the Province can use to accelerate building development on a specific plot of land: basically, a minister can ignore local planning rules, avoid public consultation and change what can be built on the property. Well, the Ford government has distributed MZOs at an unprecedented rate: at least 110 since 2019. Previous Liberal governments had issued just 18 between 2003 and 2018. →

The construction/expansion project to demolish the Marylake Augustinian Monastery and “build” the St. Rita at Mary Lake Long Term Care Home (LTC) is raising the ire of local residents in King Township.
