Giorgia Meloni at CPAC in Florida: “We will fight against the ‘woke’ ideology and the ‘cancel culture’ “
ORLANDO (Florida) – “I see the fanatics of ‘cancel culture’, not only in the violent squares but also in the institutions, remove statues, modify books and cartoons, change the names of the streets out of a sense of guilt towards a common history that they would like to rewrite. Will we surrender in front of this? No, we will not. We will fight it head on”. This is one of the passages of the speech that the honorable Giorgia Meloni, president of the ECR (the European Conservative Party) and leader of Fratelli d’Italia, gave in Orlando, Florida, at the political conference of the American Conservatives and Republicans, held over the weekend, to which she was invited by the CPAC to participate as a speaker among the most important political leaders on the international scene.
Meloni (in the pic above, during her speech) spoke about all the hottest topics, starting with the war in Ukraine: “I had mixed feelings about leaving or giving up being here. In the end – she said – I decided to be here because being here is the best way to clarify where we stand on this conflict. We are on the side of international law, we are on the side of freedom and indeed we are on the side of a proud nation that is teaching the world what it means to fight for freedom. Of course – she added – noone can take it from my head that without the outrageous withdrawal of troops from Kabul yesterday, we would never have seen the tragic siege of Kiev today … “.
The leader of Fratelli d’Italia, who received many applauses during her speech, attacked the ‘cancel culture’ and the ‘woke’ movement. “I see the ‘woke’ ideology – she said – destroying the foundations of the natural family, attacking life, insulting religion, changing words and even imposing new graphic signs. Just a few months ago, European Union bureaucrats wrote a document of hundreds of pages telling us that in order to be inclusive we had to exclude all references to Christmas. Jesus, Mary and all Christian names had to be removed from all official communications. Will we surrender in front of this? No, we will not. We will fight it. We will fight it head on!”.

On the occasion of her visit in the US, Giorgia Meloni also received the “Proclamation” from the Texas Senate on the proposal of Senator Jane Nelson: in the pics here below, some moments of the awarding of the honor, in the presence of the American senator Nelson and Vincenzo Arcobelli, member of the CGIE (Consiglio Generale degli Italiani all’Estero – General Council of Italians Abroad) and president of CTIM, the Tricolor Committee for Italians in the World – Comitato Tricolore per gli Italiani nel Mondo (click on the images to enlarge).
