In Ontario 1,095 new cases and 23 deaths

Canada reached a total of 1,367,156 positive cases yesterday, with an increase of 2,427 infections more than in the previous 24 hours. The victims – on a national scale – reached a total of 25,352 deaths yesterday, 38 more than on Tuesday. In Canada, a total of 1,295,531 people had recovered from the coronavirus as of yesterday. Ontario yesterday reached an overall total of 526,045 positive cases, an increase of 1,095 new cases compared to Tuesday, the lowest daily number of new infections recorded since last March 3. Meanwhile, the death toll has risen to 8,678, with 23 additional patients dead. In the meantime, there are 121,122 cases registered in Ontario of the English variant of Covid, 836 of the South African variant and 2,505 of the Brazilian variant. The number of recovered patients in the province rose to 499,640, or 2,371 more than the previous 24 hours. Yesterday 1,073 people were still hospitalized, 672 of them in intensive care and 469 connected to ventilators for assisted breathing. There are currently 33 nursing homes and long-term care facilities that continue to register cases of Covid-19. Yesterday there was a total of 15,290 elderly patients infected since the beginning of the pandemic and 3,950 total deaths so far recorded among residents of these same facilities. Furthermore, as of yesterday in these retirement homes, 7,077 health workers were infected and 11 died.
