“Intentionally Inflicted Mental Distress”: anti-Covid measures, another accusations
against the federal government
TORONTO – “Intentional infliction of mental anguish”: it is one of the many accusations that the 600 plaintiffs bring against the federal government in the Statement of Claim (SoC) filed in the Federal Court last May 30. Throught it, the same complainants ask, each, $ 650,000 (for a total of nearly $ 400 million) as compensation for “damage from anti-Covid measures” to Prime Minister Trudeau, Ministers Freeland, Alghabra, Mendicino, Health Director Theresa Tam and other executive officials.
The plaintiffs state that “the defendants, through their illegal and unconstitutional ‘vaccine’ and other Covid-19 mandates and ‘passports’, have knowling inflicted mental anguish on the plaintiffs, as one of the consequences of exercising their contitutionally protected rights to decline any medical treatment and or procedure based on the constitutionally protected right to informed, voluntary, consent”, as plaintiffs themselves point out.
As stated in the SoC, written by the Rocco Galati Professional Corporation Law Firm (Corriere Canadese has a copy of it), the plaintiffs claim to have felt described, having refused to be vaccinated, as “those who do not believe in science, are often misogynists, often also racist” and to have often heard of them: “do we tolerate these people?”. All of this “vilified” the plaintiffs, making them “objects of contempt, disgust and abuse, which fostered anguish and mental anxiety”.
But this is not the only consequence suffered by the plaintiffs, who are current and former employees of various agencies and ministries of the Government of Canada, Crown federal corporations or federally regulated industries. According to them, in addition to anxiety and mental stress, they also suffered “a loss of dignity and discrimination on the basis of health” and, above all, “the loss of their job”. Precisely for this reason, and here we come to the “practical” point of the matter, the plaintiffs are demanding compensation for damages suffered and costs incurred, wages and lost positions. Millions and millions of dollars, quantifiable in almost $ 400 million. Material damage, therefore, as well as psychological, moral and so on.
As we wrote in yesterday’s article about this issue, in recent days a spokeswoman for the Court stated that all the defendants have been notified in writing and have thirty days to respond to the complaint. In future editions, Corriere Canadese will publish further information.
