“Italy in your Heart”: art, music, history and cuisine to inaugurate the Italian Heritage Month
VANCOUVER – June is Italian Heritage Month and there are many initiatives planned in the various “tricolor” communities scattered throughout Canada, organized with the aim of celebrating Italianness. One of these is the event promoted by the Dante Alighieri Society of British Columbia, based in Vancouver.
As explained by the Italian language school itself, the “Dante” will be hosting “a virtual event focusing on Italian art, iconic music, delicious local specialties, ancient traditions and much more! Join our inspiring teachers to celebrate the invaluable contributions that Italian communities have made to our society”.
The event, which can be followed online, includes the following interventions by the ‘Dante’ teachers: “The Scrovegni Chapel” (Serena Piccoli will tour one of Giotto’s masterpieces in Padua); “Iconic Music” (Marzio Pelù will sing “Emozioni” by Lucio Battisti and speak about the meaning behind this iconic Italian song); “Discover the Castelli Romani and the Grape Festival off the beaten tourist track” (Eleonora Baldini); “Eating Well in Sanremo” (Nadia Taha will present local food specialties and typical products of the Riviera dei Fiori); “Miramare Castle in Trieste” (Patrizia Pietroniro will tour the beauty of the castle and its fascinating royal dream). Presentations will be held in English and/or Italian.
The appointment is therefore for Saturday 1st June (at 11am in Vancouver and 2pm in Toronto) live on Zoom: for registrations, contact info@dantesocietybc.ca or visit the RSPV link https://www.dantesocietybc.ca/
