Minister Fraser travelling to Guatemala
OTTAWA – The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, will travel to Guatemala to meet with UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi and high level representatives from Central American countries and the United States.
This visit will bring attention to Canada’s commitment to work with other states to find solutions to the forcible displacement of peoples within the region.
The Minister will also represent Canada as the current chair of the Central America and Mexico Comprehensive Regional Protection and Solutions Framework (MIRPS) Support Platform by attending the MIRPS Annual Ministerial Meeting.
MIRPS is the Spanish acronym for the Central America and Mexico Comprehensive Regional Protection and Solutions Framework, which was developed by the UN Refugee Agency in support of the Global Compact on Refugees.
