Here we provide a daily update of the data available for select countries and jurisdictions as of August 26, 2021, at 6:45pm EST.

On Thursday, health officials in the UK logged 38,281 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 6.6 million. Of the cumulative total, 79.3% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 140, bringing the total number of fatalities to 132,143.

Globally, over 214 million cases have confirmed positive for Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 192 million people have recovered. Fatalities attributable to Covid-19 now surpass 4.4 million worldwide.

Ontario has not reported any Covid-related fatalities on August 26, 2021.
