On Tuesday, health officials in India logged nearly 16,000 new infections, pushing the total number of confirmed positive cases passed 34 million. Of the cumulative total number of cases, 98.0% are considered recovered. In the last 24-hours, Covid-related deaths increased by 229, bringing the total number of fatalities to 451,220.

Globally, over 238 million cases have confirmed positive for Covid-19 according to Johns Hopkins University data. Since the start of the pandemic, over 216 million people have recovered. Fatalities attributable to Covid-19 now surpass 4.8 million worldwide.
