TORONTO – The media storm relating to Chinese interference in Canadian politics is beginning to have its first effects. An Ontario provincial MP, Vincent Ke (in the pic above, from his Twitter page – @vincentkempp), has resigned from the Progressive Conservative caucus and will sit as an independent, effective immediately, due to his (alleged) ties to the Chinese Communist Party, which Global News spoke about last Friday: news that Ke himself denied, calling them “false and defamatory”. TORONTO – “Intentional infliction of mental anguish”: it is one of the many accusations that the 600 plaintiffs bring against the federal government in the Statement of Claim (SoC) filed in the Federal Court last May 30. Throught it, the same complainants ask, each, $ 650,000 (for a total of nearly $ 400 million) as compensation for “damage from anti-Covid measures” to Prime Minister Trudeau, Ministers Freeland, Alghabra, Mendicino, Health Director Theresa Tam and other executive officials. TORONTO – Ottawa starts again exactly as the last legislature ended: accusations, controversies, poisons. The climate of institutional bon ton lasted very little, time to elect the new Speaker of the House – with the reconfirmation of the Italian Canadian Anthony Rota – and to listen to the historic Speech from the Throne of the Governor General Mary Simon – the first in English, French and in the Inuit language – and in the Canadian parliament we returned to the old good manners.
