Canadian community humanitarian aid to Ukraine

The humanitarian crisis in Europe continues to develop amid the increasing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. It is generating spontaneous aid from Canadians in the Toronto area.

Thousands of Ukrainians, mostly women and children, are leaving their home headed to neighbouring countries to escape the bombs and missiles landing near their towns and villages. According to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNRA), more than one million people have fled from Ukraine since the start of the military operation.

Omicron emergency, incoming aid from Ottawa

OTTAWA – In order to help those affected by the measures imposed to cope with the spread of the Covid-19 variant Omicron, the federal government has temporarily expanded eligibility for two economic aid programs. This was announced today by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. “We will be there for the most affected regions, for specific sectors such as art and culture, hospitality and tourism – said Trudeau during a virtual press conference – we will be present to protect you and your families”.

Alberta, two thousand cases in one day. The doctors: “Immediate military aid”

EDMONTON – Scary numbers. Alberta, which until a few days ago was “stay open for good”, registered 2,020 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday (out of a total of 17,000 tests carried out). A huge amount, considering that Alberta has just over 4.3 million inhabitants. To make a comparison: today Italy, which has over 60 million inhabitants, recorded 3,838 new cases (out of a total of 263,571 swabs analyzed).  (more…)
