Covid-19: another 56 dead in Ontario, but hospitalizations are still dropping

TORONTO – The total number of hospitalizations for Covid-19 in Ontario falls, but the number of victims remains high: today 56 were registered (a boy under the age of 19 also died during the weekend in Toronto), bringing the total deaths in Ontario, since the beginning of the pandemic, to 10,968. On the other hand, hospitalizations drop – we said – to 3,797, compared to 4,026 on Saturday, even if it should be remembered that not all hospitals provide the data on weekends. There was a slight increase in the number of beds occupied in intensive care, from 600 on Saturday to 604 today.

Back in the classroom but everything is as before

TORONTO – Ontario students will receive two rapid antigen tests when they return to class next Monday, but other than that, the government’s plan rests primarily on previously announced measures to keep schools safe during the Omicron wave. The pillars of his plan to return to school on January 17 are updated screenings, new deliveries of quality masks, ventilation improvements, vaccinations, new hires. The vast majority of the measures included in the plan had previously been announced.  In short, nothing new.

Ontario: back-to-school on Monday but teachers discontent

TORONTO – The countdown has started for the students of Ontario, who will return to class as early as next week. From January 3 the return had been postponed by the government to January 5 and then again postponed January 17 due to the rapid spread of the variant of Covid Omicron. But this time, according to government sources, elementary and high school children will return to classrooms.

Ontario, today 10,436 Covid-cases but they could be more than double

TORONTO – Covid-19 in Ontario, a new record broken: the province today recorded 10,436 new cases (and 3 deaths), surpassing the previous record-count of December 25 (10,412). But the actual infections in Ontario could be more than double: the laboratories have in fact processed 59,259 samples and 74,535 remain in the research phase. Not only that: simply booking a molecular test appointment in the Toronto area is now a real challenge, so many people with symptoms can’t even get tested.
