In one of the most diverse municipalities in the country, young families make up a significant portion of Milton’s electorate. Created in 2015, the provincial riding is situated in the Regional Municipality of Halton and encompasses the Town of Halton and the north-west portion of the City of Burlington.
TORONTO – In the last 24 hours, no new deaths related to Covid-19 have been confirmed in Ontario (the total since the beginning of the pandemic remains at 12,470), but the province is once again seeing an increase in hospitalizations, both in ordinary wards and in intensive care. VATICAN CITY – “Listening and closeness”: this is how the Vatican defined the meeting held this morning between Pope Francis and a group of about twenty indigenous of the First Nations, accompanied by some Canadian bishops. Tomorrow, however, the Pontiff’s final audience is scheduled with the three groups he met in these days: First Nations, Métis and Inuit.
The provincial electoral district of Thunder Bay – Atikokan (TBA) is situated just west of Thunder Bay – Superior North along the north shore of Lake Superior. Located about 1,600km northwest of the capital, by car it would take about 18 hours (nonstop) to reach Ottawa.
The district covers an area of 25,600 square km (about the same size as Sicily). It encompasses the town of Atikokan and the south side of the City of Thunder Bay. The oddly shaped riding dips south to the Canada/US boundary. (more…)
TORONTO – Covid-19, hospitalizations in Ontario are returning to drop, after the surge recorded in recent days: today a total of 553 people were hospitalized in the hospitals of the province, including 157 inpatients in intensive care. Much less, therefore, than the 707 reported on Saturday and 667 on Friday, although it should be remembered that not all hospitals communicate their data on Sundays. (more…)
