TORONTO – The vast majority of PSAC federal civil servants have returned to work, but for some 35,000 unionized employees of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), the mobilization continues: even today, workers remained on pickets (in the pic above, from Twitter – @Pattycoates), having not yet reached an agreement to the contract. The strike is leading to delays in processing tax and benefit returns, especially those submitted in paper format, as well as increased wait times at contact centres. →
TORONTO – Amid grief and controversy, the manhunt continues in Saskatchewan. The question, after the massacre of 10 people and the wounding of 19 others with stab wounds, is only one: where is Myles Sanderson hiding? According to the chief of the Queen Police Evan Bray would no longer be in the city. “We have received information that leads us to believe that Myles Sanderson may no longer be in this community,” Bray said. And although we don’t know where he is, we are still looking not only inside Regina, but also throughout the province,” he said. It dates back to last Sunday the sighting in the city of the Nissan Rogue of which the fugitive could be driving. Since then nothing more. “He could be injured – said the police – certainly he is armed and dangerous”.
TORONTO – The controversy was not long in coming. Just a day after Ontario Chief Medical Officer of Health Kieran Moore announced the lifting of the obligation to wear a mask on public transport and in many health facilities, the new director of the Ontario Science Advisory Table Fahad Razak attacked this decision. “The provincial requirement could have been extended for at least another four weeks to help relieve some of the pressure on hospitals that will now have to enforce their policies on masks – said the doctor interviewed by CBC Radio – I am heartened to see that many hospitals have already announced that they will continue to impose them”.
TORONTO – Extending the mask mandate, which was due to expire tomorrow, until June 11 is not enough. The controversy, following the announcement of the Ontario government, was not long in coming because “this decision is not able to mitigate this sixth wave of Covid-19”. More needs to be done, in essence.
TORONTO – Masks yes or masks no? After the easing of restrictions in Ontario no longer require masks in most facilities, the controversy goes crazy. On the one hand there are those who cannot do without the protection guaranteed by masks, on the other hand those who could not wait to get rid of them, and to wear them, now that the government has removed the obligation, do not want to hear about them. And so while Uber Canada will no longer require customers to use them starting Friday, Toronto-based taxi company Beck Taxi has decided to continue to impose their use.
