Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – “No one in Canada, not even the Premier and Prime Minister, has the power to govern with a minority vote. You can’t trust anyone with that much power”. This, in a nutshell, is the message that the NDP of Ontario sends to John Tory (in the pic above, from his Twitter profile), inviting him to request the withdrawal of the provincial legislation that gives him almost absolute powers to encourage the construction of new housing. TORONTO – The threat posed by Omicron is frightening. The new variant has created a climate of great concern in the international scientific community, although at the moment there is no unequivocal assessment of this new threat. On the one hand, in fact, we have numerous virologists who have highlighted how the first data coming from South Africa and Europe have highlighted a greater transmissibility of the coronavirus and, at the same time, the presence of generally milder symptoms for the infected compared to the Delta strain and the other variants that have characterized this pandemic. TORONTO – Freedom Day in England, with the elimination of almost all anti-Covid restrictions. But at what price? Britain becomes, at a time when the whole world still has to deal with the pandemic, an immense laboratory in which the government led by Prime Minister Boris Johnson has decided to carry out a dangerous social-health experiment.
