TORONTO – History repeats itself. As has been the case for a few weeks, also this weekend, the emergency rooms of numerous hospitals in Ontario remained closed. It happened to the Durham site of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC), georgian Bay General Hospital and Ottawa’s Monfort Hospital that was closed at night to cope with an “unprecedented shortage” of nurses. And last week it was the turn of Perth, Listowel, Seaforth and Bowmanville, where Lakeridge Health temporarily closed its intensive care unit and relocated patients to the Ajax-Pickering and Oshawa campuses.
TORONTO – The sad threshold of 13 thousand deaths related to Covid-19 has been exceeded: today Ontario recorded another 29 victims, which bring the total, from the beginning of the pandemic in the province, to 13,020. (more…)
TORONTO – Today, in Ontario stricter public health measures returned, with lower capacity limits in restaurants and social gatherings. Premier Doug Ford announced the new restrictions on Friday, saying the Omicron variant is so contagious that it threatens to “overwhelm the healthcare system.” (more…)
TORONTO – The violence does not seem to stop. Ten shootings followed one another in Toronto over the weekend, five of which took place on Sunday. Those seen in the streets of the city are scenes from far West: the sad toll is of numerous wounded and four dead. (more…)
