TORONTO – I am not a monarchist. However, I swore allegiance to the Crown, Canada’s Head of State and Guardian of our Constitution, when I was inducted into Cabinet as a Privy Councillor. My reactions to the passing of the venerable Queen Elizabeth II are conditioned by that.
Sooner or later, something was bound to break. It has been that type of year for the HCDSB. Meetings are frequently uncompleted, compelling the Board to call follow-up meeting to conclude its business. The focus of debates has been diverted by contentious issues that have little to do with school [academic] performance.
On June 8, 2021, the internet broke down. CNN, The New York Times, the UK Government, Amazon, Paypal, the Financial Times, Bloomberg News, Reddit, Spotify, Twitch, Verge, along with thousands of other government, news and social media web sites – all fell off the grid.
