VATICAN CITY – “Indignation and shame” for what happened in residential school in Canada: “for the deplorable conduct of those members of the Catholic Church, I ask for God’s forgiveness and I want to say to you with all my heart: I am very sorry”. After private meetings between Pope Francis and First Nations, Inuit and Metis delegates this week, all parties met the Pope at the Vatican on Friday and, speaking in Italian, the Pontiff asked for God’s forgiveness, recognizing the wrongs done to Indigenous in residential schools.
Two months following the ground-breaking experiment, the first person to receive the first genetically modified pig heart transplant has died. The patient, 57-year-old David Bennett, passed away on March 8, 2022. (more…)
The scientist behind the recent landmark success story in the world of first transplanting the pig heart into human in the United States is Dr. Muhammad Mansoor Mohiuddin, a Pakistani-born MBBS doctor of Dow Medical College of Karachi as well as co-founding director of the Cardiac Xenotransplantation Program at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
