Everyone at school tomorrow, but it’s a leap in the dark

TORONTO – The long-awaited day, that of returning to school after months and months, has also arrived for the students of the Toronto administrations, both public and Catholic. And it could be a good day, were it not for the thousand unknowns that loom also due to the delays in the reorganization of schools, necessary with the pandemic still underway. These first two days, then – tomorrow and Friday, then all at home again for the weekend – will be nothing more than a kind of “rehearsal” of what will happen during the school year. Impossible to predict, however, what will happen.

Canada is preparing to welcome 20,000 Afghans but shut down its embassy in Kabul

OTTAWA – Canada will be a safe haven for more than 20,000 Afghans in a “vulnerable condition”: the Minister of Immigration, Marco Mendicino, announced it on Friday during a press conference with Foreign Minister Marc Garneau, Defense Minister Harjit Sajjan and the Minister of Women Maryam Monsef. A commitment that adds to the initiative put in place for previous thousands of Afghans who have worked for the Canadian government as interpreters and employees of the embassy. 

Italy wins 4×100 and karate and breaks its Olympic medal record

 

TOKYO – 6 August 2021, another historic day for Italian sport. In the men’s 4×100, with 37 “50 the Azzurri win gold in front of Great Britain (37” 51) and Canada (37 “70). Patta, Jacobs, Desalu and Tortu win a fantastic Olympic gold medal and for the Italia Team, after the other victories today (including gold in karate with Luigi Busà), is the 38th medal, an absolute record at the Olympic Games, which improves the 36 podiums obtained from the Azzurri’s expeditions of Los Angeles 1932 and Rome 1960.

What justification makes VOA to shut down its Bangla radio broadcast service?

Sadly the largest U.S. international broadcaster, Voice of America (VOA) which provides news and information in 45 languages to an estimated audience of more than 280 million people weekly through its satellite, cable, FM and MW on a network of more than 2,500 affiliate stations since 1942, has shut down its most enriched Bangla radio broadcast service in a press release distributed on July 13, 2021.
