Parent groups and concerned community members rally in solidarity to protest the province’s plan to increase class sizes. Parents held coordinated demonstrations at several Catholic elementary schools across Toronto calling on the Ontario government and the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) to halt the reorganization of class sizes.
The controversy is becoming more and more heated. Last year, the Ontario premier Doug Ford pledged to make air conditioning mandatory in every nursing home, including residents’ rooms, but his government awarded construction contracts for new facilities that don’t include air conditioning systems throughout the building. Doug Ford seems to be adamant. Schools will remain closed until autumn. Sources told CTV News Toronto that members of the government’s planning and priorities committee met on Monday and decided not to allow schools to reopen for the final weeks of the school year, even on a regional basis.
