Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

TORONTO – It is a deep crisis that the home care sector is going through. During the Covid-19 pandemic there has been an unprecedented flight of personnel to other parts of the health system. “We have literally lost over 3,000 nurses, qualified therapists and personal support workers,” said Sue VanderBent, CEO of Home Care Ontario, which represents home care providers in Ontario, “and this is very bad news for Ontario residents who are receiving home care because now the number is so small that many people are left waiting at home for a nurse or therapist or PSW who will not arrive.” (more…)
The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, and the President of Spain, Pedro Sánchez (in the pic from the NATO website, with secretary general Jens Stoltenberg), met in the NATO Summit this Monday, June 14. They discussed the economic and social relations between the two nations, as well as forced migration and the importance of an international policy for the distribution of vaccines for the less favored countries. TORONTO – Chaos in Ontario over lack of spots for the second Covid-19 dose. Today, starting at 8 a.m., all residents of the hotspots identified by the provincial government – Toronto, Peel, Halton, Porcupine, Waterloo, York and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph – had the opportunity to access the portal to reserve the reservation of the covid vaccine recall injection. But the day was marked by delays, inconveniences, with the website overloaded with the number of requests that arrived. (more…)
