TORONTO – They must have waited until the last minute to secure maximum effect… biggest bang for the event’s buck, so to speak. In part, it worked. An estimated 400 people turned out for the announcement and for Steven Del Duca’s kick-off speech.
TORONTO – As the provincial election approaches by leaps and bounds, according to a new poll conducted by Leger on behalf of Postmedia News between February 25 and 27, Ontario’s Conservatives are ahead in preferences while the NDP and Liberals are head to head in the race for second place. In voting intentions, Doug Ford’s Tories are at 39%. Andrea Horwath’s NDP and Steven Del Duca’s Liberals are tied, with 27% respectively. “We are practically two months from the kick-off – said Andrew Enns, vice president in charge of Leger at the Winnipeg office – starting from now on you can already see where the parties are in terms of preferences”.
TORONTO – The possible Ndp external support to the government is a ‘’no go’’, at least for now. The hypothesis of an organic agreement between the Grit majority and the neo-democrats, which in recent days has been discussed on several occasions, was rejected by the group leader in the Liberal House, who branded the rumors of the negotiation as simple “speculation”. →
TORONTO – An external support of the NDP to Justin Trudeau that guarantees the survival of the government for at least two to three years. It is on this possible outcome that the Liberals and Neo-Democrats are working exactly two weeks after the first session of the federal parliament since the last elections on 20 September. Yesterday the respective parliamentary groups met for the first time and behind closed doors the pros and cons of the potential agreement between the forces of the Canadian center-left were examined. →
TORONTO – With numerous polling stations still in the counting phase, Justin Trudeau’s victory in the federal elections is already clear. These are the percentages as we write (around 10.30 pm): Liberals 37.5%, Conservatives 32.8%, NDP 16.2%, Bloc Quebecois 5.5%, People Party 4.7%, Green 2, 5%. At the moment, the Liberals would not have the seats for a majority government (they are stuck at 144 against 117 for the Conservatives) but the results of many seats are still lacking.
