Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – “No one in Canada, not even the Premier and Prime Minister, has the power to govern with a minority vote. You can’t trust anyone with that much power”. This, in a nutshell, is the message that the NDP of Ontario sends to John Tory (in the pic above, from his Twitter profile), inviting him to request the withdrawal of the provincial legislation that gives him almost absolute powers to encourage the construction of new housing. TORONTO – An absolute “first” for Super-Tory, today, in the City Council for the assembly that inaugurated the new mandate after the last municipal elections. John Tory once again occupies the Mayor’s seat, but this time with the new powers assigned to him by legislation wanted by the provincial government to speed up the construction of new houses. TORONTO – Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua announced he will not be seeking re-election in the Municipal election later this year (October 24). He delivered the message at the annual Vaughan Mayor’s Gala Wednesday evening at the Universal Event Space in Vaughan. It was the first in-person Gala since 2019, following a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
