Ontario, today 10,436 Covid-cases but they could be more than double

TORONTO – Covid-19 in Ontario, a new record broken: the province today recorded 10,436 new cases (and 3 deaths), surpassing the previous record-count of December 25 (10,412). But the actual infections in Ontario could be more than double: the laboratories have in fact processed 59,259 samples and 74,535 remain in the research phase. Not only that: simply booking a molecular test appointment in the Toronto area is now a real challenge, so many people with symptoms can’t even get tested. 

Ontario: 12,000 more active Covid-cases in seven days

TORONTO – Slight drop in new cases today in Ontario: 3,784 reports, compared to 4,177 on Sunday (when, however, more swabs were carried out), but a sharp increase compared to the 1,536 reports reported just a week ago: now the rate of positivity approaches 10%. With 44,123 tests processed in the last 24 hours, officials report a rate of 9.7%, the highest number since May 3. On Sunday the tests processed were 51,151: the positivity rate, with 4,177 detected, was 8.7% The seven-day moving average of daily cases is now 2,863: last Monday it was 1,328. 

The virus spreads: more than 1,800 Covid-cases in Ontario and 2,386 in Quebec

TORONTO – The virus spreads.  Ontario today reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases in more than six months: 1,808. To count more in just 24 hours, we have to go back to last May 21, when the new infections in one day were 1,890. Not only that: the number of active cases has increased by about 50% in a week: seven days ago they were 8,351, now they are 12,666. 

Covid in Ontario, positivity almost doubled in seven days. More than 1.700 cases in Quebec

TORONTO – Over 1,400 new cases of Covid-19 and another 5 deaths related to the virus, today, in Ontario: the new infections are 1,429, down from 1,536 but up from 928 a week ago. With the increase in the number of cases in the last month, the seven-day moving average continues to rise and reaches 1,400 (a week ago it was 975): it is the highest average since last May 27 when it was 1,441. The positivity rate also reaches a maximum never seen in almost seven months: with 33,400 tests processed it is now at 6.6%, the highest since last May 18 when it was 7.6% (a week ago it was at 3.8 %: almost doubled in seven days).
