Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
I admit to holding the concept that mankind (womankind, humankind, peoplekind) possesses two distinct characteristics: a body and soul – instinct and free will. The latter being the innate (if one is in a state of sound mental health) ability to make a deliberate choice when faced with an alternative, and to accept responsibility for it.
TORONTO – The problems afflicting big Ontario cities like Toronto and Ottawa are that the Mayors are examples of “a weak mayor system” of municipal government. Who knew?
TORONTO – The Columbus Centre will continue to be called the Columbus Centre. That’s right. After having averted, with a mobilization that lasted more than a year its demolition, the community rejected the renaming of the community center wanted and created by the Italian-Canadians.
