TORONTO – The number of people finally hospitalized with Covid-19 in Ontario will drop below one hundred: it is the first time since the end of December, although provincial health officials recall that not all hospitals observe their data over the weekend . TORONTO – 3,220 people in hospital with Covid-19 (compared to 2,467 yesterday) and 80 new hospitalizations in intensive care in one day: and they are partial data, because over 10% of hospitals did not report their data during the end week.
TORONTO – Fewer cases of Covid-19 than in previous days, but the positivity rate is skyrocketing: 30.9%. A percentage never seen in Ontario. Virtually every three Covid-tests carried out, one is positive.
TORONTO – There is no more time to waste, at least more than that lost so far between hesitations and non-decisions. The provincial government announced today that the third dose of the vaccine will be open to all citizens aged 18 and over from Monday. Not only that: it will be possible to do it three months (and no longer six) from the second one. An acceleration first hoped for and then supported by the Ontario Science Table which just today returned to call for rapid measures to curb the surge in cases due, in all probability, to the Omicron variant, much more infectious than the Delta. TORONTO – Covid-19: impressive surge in infections in Ontario, today: almost 1,300 new cases, with the highest daily count in the province in more than six months. The provincial health officials in fact recorded 1,290 infections, compared to 1,009 on Wednesday and 959 a week ago. Today’s total is therefore the highest recorded in Ontario since May 24, when 1,446 cases were registered. (more…)
