Why Pakistan opted out of Prez Biden’s Summit for Democracy?

As China and Bangladesh were not invited to the US President Joe Biden’s Summit for Democracy, Pakistan did not join being invited. Apparently Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan did not receive any phone call since President Biden has taken office. The Pakistan government has chosen not participate, but Wednesday Islamabad said that it was “thankful” to the US government for the invite. This summit is being held for the first time on 8-10 December, with countries participating virtually. 

Taliban, ultimatum to the US: “Out”. But the Panjshir resists

KABUL – Winds of war blow over Afghanistan again. According to the Taliban, the “foreign occupation” (US and UK) must end and as of today there is a date: 31 August. “It’s a red line. President Joe Biden has announced that on August 31 the US will withdraw all its military forces. So if they decide on an extension it will mean they will be extending the occupation while there is no need”, Suhail Shaheen, spokesman for the Taliban, told Sky News. And then he added: “If the United States or the United Kingdom take longer to continue the transfers, the answer is ‘no’. Or there would be consequences”.

Groups call on Canada to phase out its immigrant detention system

In a joint report, human rights organizations denounced abuses in Canadian detention centers and prisons, and noted discrimination against people with mental discapacities. Human Rights Watch (HRW) and Amnesty International assure that the conditions faced by many migrants, who after fleeing their country and requesting protection in Canada, “are regularly handcuffed and kept with little or no contact with the outside world.”
