TORONTO – The Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) made a call about “monkeypox”, asking to protect and uphold human rights during the outbreak. In a statement, OHRC writes that “as the world grapples with the ongoing “monkeypox” outbreak, several very concerning human rights issues have been exposed”.
TORONTO – Now it’s the Delta variant that’s scary. In communities as well as in nursing and long-term care homes. And it is precisely this strain – which is more than twice as transmissible as the first forms of the virus – that is responsible for an outbreak of Covid-19 that broke out at The Village of Tansley Woods in Burlington. The Canadian government, the Colombian community in Canada and human rights organizations condemned the violence in Colombia, “including the disproportionate use of force by the security forces”, after at least 39 people were killed and close to a thousand injuries during the protests in recent weeks. TORONTO – Amazon’s largest plant in Brampton, Ontario has been shut down due to an ongoing investigation by the Peel Public Health Department. The facility’s at least 618, out of 5,000 employees have been infected with corona. As a result, all the employees have been asked to go on voluntary isolation for two weeks. (more…)
