Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Sometimes, like the Starship Enterprise of the 1970s sci-fi sitcom, a country’s official Statistics gatherer discovers data that supports or disproves long held assumptions. It is an expensive exercise, but at least it offers a “scientific” – numerical basis (justification) – for some public policy developments/responses to a country’s emerging problems.
The director-general for North America of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), Roberto Velasco Álvarez, announced that Darío Alberto Bernal Acero, honorary consul of Mexico in Leamington, Canada, was dismissed from his position after knowing a sexual video recorded in front of his desk at the consular headquarters.
