Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.

Another record setting day in the province of Ontario. In the last 24-hours, provincial health officials reported 4,456 new infections and 605 patients in the ICU due to Covid-related critical illness. These figures are the highest reported since the start of the pandemic.

Governments around the world have adopted various infection prevention measures to mitigate the spread of Covid-19. [GTranslate]TORONTO – Amid concerns over rising variant-of-concern (VOC) cases and Ontario possibly in a third wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the focus shifts to scaling up the vaccination campaign.
So far, Ontario has administered more than 1.2 million doses into the arms of citizens. However, that tally is predicated on the fact that at least two doses are required per person to achieve maximum protection against the virus. (more…)
