Welcome to the Canadian National Multilingual News Group (CNMNG). This is a project made possible through funding by Canadian Heritage. CNMNG aims to gather news researched and written by a corps of Canadian-based journalists/writers from the country’s multilingual community groups. The overall goal is to inform, analyze and critique the issues of the day in a professional manner and to provide that to publishers and editors active in the ethnocultural-multilingual press and media whose experience provides them with a perspective that is sensitive to news relevant to their own language group.
TORONTO – Pressure continues on Premier Doug Ford to bring forward Step 3 of the reopening roadmap. According to the roadmap wanted by the provincial government, the plan on the progressive relaxation of anti-Covid restrictions should comply with two pre-terms: one refers to the mass vaccination campaign in Ontario and the other on timing. The transition from Step 2 to the next is conditioned by the percentage of vaccinated throughout the province. (more…)
We missed being able to dine outside, we missed coffee with friends, we missed the mall. But we also missed – and our uncultivated hairstyles bear witness to this – the hairdresser. From tomorrow, with Ontario entering Step 2, it will be possible to do all this and more. The long-awaited relaxation of some of the restrictions with reopening non-essential shops, albeit at 25% of capacity, bodes well after so many difficult months. (more…)
A migrant never forgets his roots. And there are also those who, after leaving their country of origin to start a new life, try to do everything possible to improve the one of those they left behind. This is the case of Semou Diouf (in the pic above), 36, from Senegal who lives in Massa, in Tuscany (Italy) since twenty years, but, like many other young people like him, does not want to give up ties with his native country. Ontario will move on to the next phase of its reopening plan on June 30, allowing most personal care services to restart and also allowing larger outdoor meetings of up to 25 people and smaller meetings indoors of up to five people. (more…)
TORONTO – Turning point on the reopening front. The Ontario government announced today that starting Friday the province will enter Step 1 of the roadmap for the reopening of the economy. Doug Ford and Christine Elliott had previously planned to loosen the restrictions from Monday, June 14, but in recent days the premier and health minister had hinted that flattening the epidemiological curve could accelerate the start of Step 1.
