TORONTO – Last week, a 60-year-old retired principal from the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) committed suicide. Richard Bilkszto had been working on contract after retirement. He had been [ordered] by the employer to attend DREI seminars as part of his condition of employment. He complied.
TORONTO – Dying could become particularly easy in Canada: a depression will be enough to ask for access to euthanasia, the medically assisted death. Indeed, the country is preparing to expand its spectrum of assisted suicide which will become one of the largest in the world: starting in March, even people whose only pathology is mental illness will be able to access death. TORONTO – Misfortunes never come by themselves, says a proverb. Edward Lake, whose three sons and father-in-law were killed in a terrible accident in Vaughan in 2015, took his own life. The case has filled the pages of the newspapers for months: driving the vehicle that hit the van of the children’s grandfather, there was Marco Muzzo, scion of a rich family, drunk. A pain, that of Edward Lake and his wife Jennifer Neville-Lake, that can only be imagined.
