TORONTO – According to the 2016 Census, York Region has the highest concentration of Canadians who self- identify as being of Italian origin, 38% in the city of Vaughan alone. Most of them send their children to the schools administered by the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB). The Board currently is governed by ten trustees evenly split between five trustees of Italian background and five who are not (including a member of a visible minority).

Barring the presence of a concerted effort by cowardly forces working in the wings, one cannot explain the machinations by trustees in certain Catholic school boards to diminish the constitutional rights of Catholic electors in their own school system. →

The stage is set for Meadowvale Theatre to receive a much-needed makeover. Starting May 21, the theatre will close temporarily for renovations. The renovations will help transform the theatre into a more modern, inspiring, and accessible space. The theatre is planned to reopen in summer 2022, after renovations have been completed. →
