[GTranslate]TORONTO – Ontario’s Covid-19 Vaccination Online booking portal went live at 8am for residents aged 80+ to book their vaccine appointment. At a press briefing on March 14, Premier Ford reiterated that only people born in 1941 or earlier will be permitted to reserve their appointment.

[GTranslate]TORONTO – The progress of the vaccination campaign will be decisive for the breakthrough in the fight against Covid-19. Canadians’ initial skepticism of vaccines developed in such a short time is gradually waning, replaced by growing optimism fueled by news coming from abroad. In Israel, the country that has conducted the most aggressive immunization campaign, people are slowly regaining small portions of normality that they had had to renounce since the beginning of the pandemic: in many areas of the country restaurants, cafes, schools, cultural events, tourist attractions, have resumed functioning exactly as in the pre-pandemic phase. In Israel almost 5 million people received the first dose, 3 million and 800 thousand also the recall: more than 40% of the population is “protected” from Covid. And the results can be seen: the positivity rate has fallen to 4.3% compared to 10% in January. (more…)

The confirmation came yesterday from Justin Trudeau during a press conference in which the prime minister did not hide a cautious optimism about the latest developments in the vaccination campaign that is about to come to life in Canada. The first factor to consider – underlined by the Liberal leader – is the approval of the third vaccine in Canada, that of AstraZeneca, which has a significant acceleration in the roadmap drawn up by the government in recent months. Yesterday – added Trudeau – the first supply of the vaccine arrived in our country with about half a million doses, which will be immediately distributed to the province and territories. “In addition to this,” he continued, “we are waiting to have a response from Health Canada on another vaccine, the one produced by Johnson and Johnson.” The latter, which in the United States has been able to give the green light by the regulator, could represent the turning point in this problematic immunization campaign against Covid-19, as a difference of all the other approved vaccines in Canada – Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca – to be effective needs a single dose and does not require recall injection.
